Aker Seafoods France have 6 fish farms (Levignacq, Mézos, St Julien, Castets, Les Ores, Viveros de los Pirineos) spread over South West France and at the foot of the Spanish Pyrenees where more than 5000 tonnes of trout are raised every year.
Aker Seafoods France also has a Turbot raising farm on the Ile de Noirmoutier. Turbot, and trout, are the pioneer species in fish farming. Becoming more and more rare in the sea, wild turbot has become a luxury product and is one of the most fragile species. A necessary reminder: Turbot cannot withstand variations in temperature. It is a fact that the Ile de Noirmoutier possesses an underground salt water table which supplies water at a constant temperature of between 14% and 17%. A true specificity! A food of quality, turbot is traditionally eaten on festive occasions in fillets.
From the genetic selection to the final conditioning of the trout, different steps are undertaken to ensure a policy where quality integrates with an innovative environmental approach.
